My Aunt Dorie was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1963. She lived in an apartment in Geelong and close to her sister – my mum Pat.
Every Friday night after work at the Harry Hoopers supermarket she would drive into the country and collect one of her four nieces and nephew to spend the whole weekend with her. We all loved driving off back to the city.
My fondest memory is being allowed to “dress up” in her blue dress with the puffed sleeves and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea always served on beautiful English china, table always set with a table-cloth and napkins. My Auntie Dorie was so elegant and refined.
My vintage china collection has been gathered over the past 30 yrs and reminds me so much of her.
